As Americans Suffer, Biden’s FEMA Focuses on LGBTQ and DEI

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is receiving a lot of critique for the massive mistakes in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene however, it seems FEMA was spending lots of time stressing about LGBTQ concerns and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies during the Biden period.

As FEMA receives waves of criticism, videos of certain meetings and training sessions have started appearing on social media.

In a video of this kind the Director of Education/Training at FEMA in the FEMA’s “Pride Federal Employee Resource Group,” Reilly Hirst, is shown praising the agency’s efforts to engage in “conversations with migrant trans women.”

Hirst stated that FEMA was making sure that “migrant trans women” would be in a position to “trust” the shelters that FEMA offered to migrants. Hirst stated that FEMA must continue to make sure that shelters do not “misgender” migrant trans women and there is access for them to bathroom and bedroom that they would like to have access to.

In a different video from a disaster preparation gathering, FEMA managers are seeing discussing how they can concentrate upon “LGBTQIA people” and that FEMA needs to make sure that there are “disaster equity” in its actions.

Another FEMA video reveals that in 2023, the agency made an agreement in partnership with NAACP. NAACP in order to “instill equity in disaster relief.”

The pledge was made on September 20th the 20th of September, 2023. NAACP president and chief executive Derrick Johnson and Chairman of the Board of Directors Leon W. Russell joined FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell to “address the longstanding disparities disproportionately affecting our communities before, during and after disaster.”

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was created in order to be used “as a global example of a shared vision of inclusive and effective disaster management that prioritizes the empowerment of Black communities.”

In fact, FEMA dove headfirst into DEI and climate change concerns nearly as soon as Biden was elected president. In the month of December 2021, FEMA Director Deanne Criswell proudly released an official policy document that focused not just upon “equity,” but also on “climate change.”

Criswell stated that FEMA would be focusing in “increasing equity in our programs and policies” and “leading resilience in a changing climate” in FEMA’s response to disasters.

in the document, Criswell pointed out that FEMA will “Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management,” and “Lead Whole of Community in Climate Resilience.”
