Fox News Digital learned that the previous House Select Committee deleted on January. 6 more than 100 files secured from its investigation days prior to when Republicans took majority control over the House of Representatives.
Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga) is the chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee, which will examine the events of Jan. 6 2021. The panel will examine the security issues that occurred at that time and also the “actions of the former Select Committee investigating the Capitol Riot.
Loudermilk said on Fox News Digital last week that his probe was in the next phase, thanks to the support of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La. ) who has given additional funds to conduct an investigation.
According to sources who are familiar with Loudermilk’s investigation Fox News Digital reported that under House rules, the previous select panel led by Rep. Bennie Thomson, D-Miss. was mandated to turn over all records related to the investigation to a new Republican-led committee following Republicans won a majority in the House of Representatives at the midterm elections in 2022.
Fox News Digital reported that Thompson informed Loudermilk that the committee would give away four Terabytes (terabytes) of archives information. But, the committee that was formed received just two Terabytes.
Fox News Digital learned that Loudermilk’s committee had hired an forensic team from digital to scrape hard drives to discover the data they weren’t provided.
According to people who have been involved in the hunt, Thompson’s team of forensics discovered that 117 files were encrypted and then deleted. The sources claim that the files were erased on in January. 1st of 2023, just days prior to Thompson’s team having to transfer the information.
Fox News Digital learned that the forensics team has found all deleted and encrypted files. Loudermilk is demanding answers and passwords to gain access to the data.
Loudermilk said: “As you admitted in your letter dated July 7, 2023, the Select Committee (which investigated the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2012) failed to archive all Committee Records as required by House Rules.” The committee stated that you provided specific transcripts of depositions and interviews but did not archive them in the Clerk of the House.
Loudermilk also stated she believed that Thompson “also claimed that you turned over 4 terabytes digital files but the hard disks archived by Select Committee with Clerk of the House contained less than 3 terabytes data.”
Loudermilk claimed that after completing an forensic analysis of the hard drives and the data from the Select Committee, he had recovered a number of digital recordings’ from the hard drives that were archived.
Loudermilk said the following “one recovered file revealed the identity of a person whose testimony had not been archived by Select Committee.” “Furthermore we found that the majority of the recovered files were protected by passwords. This made it impossible for us to identify what they contained.”
Loudermilk demanded Thompson provide him with Thompson a “list of passwords for password-protected documents created by the Select Committee” in order it could “access these documents and ensure that they are properly archived”.
Loudermilk wrote letters addressed to White House General Counsel and the General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security requesting the “unedited, unredacted transcripts of White House and DHS’s testimony before the former Select Committee.”
Loudermilk’s Committee is aware that the transcripts exist, but says they were not turned over by the Thompson-led committee.
Loudermilk pleaded for Loudermilk requested that the White House and DHS meet his request prior to January 24.
It’s evident Pelosi’s Select Committee took great measures to block Americans from seeing certain documents during their investigation. Loudermilk claimed that it appeared Bennie Thompson Liz Cheney and others tried to hinder the work of the Subcommittee by not protecting crucial documents and images in line to House guidelines.
“The American People deserve to know the full truth. Speaker Johnson has given me the authority to make use of any tool that is needed to find these documents to uncover the truth. I’ll.”
