House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter of demand addressed to White House Counsel Edward Siskel to inquire into whether the president Joe Biden was involved “in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress” in conjunction with Hunter Biden, Breitbart News discovered Wednesday.
Hunter was able to defy an order from Congress to give evidence behind closed doors in a press conference.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Joe Biden was “certainly familiar with what his son was going to say” during the press event.
Jean-Pierre was unwilling to provide additional information regarding the issue.
“In light of an official statement from the White House that President Biden was aware in advance that his son, Hunter Biden, would knowingly defy two congressional subpoenas,” lawmakers stated, “we are compelled to examine as part of our impeachment inquiry whether the President engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress.”
The letter continues to state:
According to the relevant part of the Criminal Code, it’s illegal to “corruptly . . . attempt to hinder, influence or hinder the proper or proper use of inquiry authority that an investigation or inquiry is being conducted by . . . any committee of any committee of either House or jointly-appointed committees of Congressany joint committee of the Congress. Any committee of either House or any joint committee of the Congress[” Additionally, any person who “aids or encourages, aids, advises or otherwise encourages, commands, or facilitates” the perpective of committing a crime is punished as a main perpetrator of the offense.
Based on Ms. Jean-Pierre’s remarks We are forced to look into the role of the President in his son’s plan to thwart Committees subpoenas.
Hunter is in contempt of Congress proceedings after refusing to attend an open-door deposition that was subpoenaed. If found guilty and prosecuted Hunter’s punishment is up to $100,000 in fines as well as a sentence of imprisonment.
The polling indicates that a large majority Democrat voters believe Hunter should adhere to the House impeachment investigation’s legal subpoena and appear for depositions in a closed-door setting and public testimony. If Hunter doesn’t the required, he must be prosecuted according to an Harvard Caps/Harris poll recently revealed:
Democrats: 60 percent
Republicans 81% of the vote
Independents: 72 percent
